Mourinho admits Tottenham needs new striker - but Sorloth...

Jose Mourinho admitted he needs a new striker at Tottenham when speaking after Sunday's 1-0 loss to Everton.

But the Portuguese refused to comment on speculation the club are trying to sign Alexander Sorloth from Trabzonspor.

The Turkish club's president, Ahmet Agaoglu, revealed Spurs and Leipzig were after the Norwegian striker, who is halfway through a two-year loan from Crystal Palace.

But Mourinho was not being baited into talking about the 24-year-old forward.

"Well I'm not going to discuss Sorloth," Mourinho told reporters. "If the president of Trabzonspor said that, I'm not going to say that it's not true.

"I think Sortloth is a Trabzonspor player and it's not for me to speak about."

He added: "Do we need a striker? Yes. Was it because of that we lost the game? No. We didn't lose the game because we need a striker.

"We lost the game and the responsibility of that defeat is my responsibility."
