Motherwell has let go Stephen Hughes after joining the club for a second stint in November.
The 29-year old returned to Fir Park late last year after departing Norwich City in August but his short-term deal has now expired with the 'Well unable to offer him an extension.
Hughes managed just four appearances for Motherwell, who he initially joined in 2007 after spells with Leicester City and Rangers, but manager Stuart McCall says the club cannot guarantee him regular game time.
"Stephen wants to play every week and we can't guarantee him that. He was terrific while he was here - his attitude was spot on," he said.
