James Morrison believes Nicolas Anelka's arrival is already bringing out the best in his new West Bromwich Albion teammates.
His arrival has already helped see a huge transformation in Swedish striker Markus Rosenberg, who has gone from zero to hero after scoring in three of four pre-season games.
Morrison hopes to receive a similar lift from playing in the same area as 34-year-old Anelka.
Scotland's Morrison said: "Nico's arrival shows the club is going in the right direction. He has been very impressive.
"He likes to play much deeper than your average striker.
"He's played for some great clubs like Arsenal, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Inter and Juventus.
"His first touch, his awareness, his ability to dictate the pace of an attack, I can already see for myself why so many great clubs have signed him over the years."
