Philadelphia Union recruit Alejandro Moreno is happy he left his mark at Columbus Crew.
The 30-year old Venezuela international was selected by the Union in their Expansion Draft earlier in the week and although he feels he is ending one chapter of his career, he sees this as a new experience and hopes he has a positive impact on his new club.
"I'm closing a very successful chapter in my career," Moreno said.
"I did some good things for an organization that was probably going nowhere in 2007. I was part of something special, and I think I left my mark."
"I have a new opportunity with a coach and an organization that believes in the things I can do," he added. "I've done pretty well with new opportunities in this league. Hopefully I can do the same with this one."
Moreno was the leading scorer in Columbus' 2008 MLS Cup-winning team and will be a major loss to the Crew according to technical director Brian Bliss.
"While we are very disappointed to lose a player of Alejandro's calibre and qualities, it's unfortunately the price of building a championship team," he said.
