Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has played down a public invitation to AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini.
When they were both in New York last month, Moratti made an offer to Maldini to join Inter.
But last night, the Inter president explained: "I just said 'what are you doing?'. It was a form of courtesy and consideration. But I did not mean to refer to a role as a coach or even an internal role with the team.
"It was just the estimation I have for him that I wanted to express.
"I know that he is very attached to Milan."
