Moore to captain Australia despite being without a club

Former Brisbane Roar skipper Craig Moore will wear the captain's armband for Australia when they take on Kuwait tomorrow morning. Despite being without a club at present, the veteran defender will lead the Socceroos in their important Asian Cup qualifier in Kuwait City and says he is only thinking about helping his country get the right result.

"All I'm focused on is helping Australia beat Kuwait," Moore said last night.

The 34-year old has been linked to a short-term deal with Scottish club St Johnstone ahead of the World Cup in June and there are also a few A-League clubs keen on his services for next season including Gold Coast United and North Queensland Fury.

Moore will be appearing for the 47th time in Australian colours and is set to be joined by Sydney FC defender Simon Colosimo in the heart of defence.
