Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella is convinced of a solid season ahead.

Montella moved to Fiorentina from Catania this summer.

"I really liked the effort put in by my lads throughout the game," insisted Montella after their 0-0 draw with Verona.

"We made some mistakes, but that was inevitable. It was a useful and difficult test. All in all, I am happy, although the indications I got from the match were not all positive.

"I am testing Stevan Jovetic in this new position in the centre of the attack. I want to understand what he can give there, whereas I already know what he can do on the left."
