Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella was delighted with victory over Empoli.

Josep Ilicic hit a brace, including the winner, while Mohamed Salah was also on the scoresheet.

"With quality, sacrifice and hunger we got the better of Empoli with a deserved success," said Montella.

"I was particularly eager to get this result, as the team deserves fifth place and it was fundamental to get the three points today.

"We struggled a little at the end, above all for the centre-backs. Mohamed Salah scored a great goal and he has these unpredictable tricks. From January he gave us something more in our finishing and allows us to take play in different ways, which is what we needed.

"Josip Ilicic is doing great things and over the last few months showed strength to win back his place. He is improving in terms of consistency, while we already knew his quality."
