AS Roma director Gian Paolo Montali has responded to criticism from former coach Claudio Ranieri.
Ranieri criticised Roma for using him as a scapegoat, while not punishing players for obvious insubordination.
"We do not recognise ourselves in Ranieri's description, even if we understand he is upset," said Montali.
"He just wanted to win for his hometown club. We don't want to stir up any more controversy, as we're still in this campaign and can achieve great things."
