Nacho Monreal says he's ready to takeover from Laurent Koscielny as Arsenal club captain.

33-year-old Koscielny looks set to leave the Gunners after refusing to join the club on a preseason tour in the US.

And Monreal insists he would be proud to accept the role.

"Two captains left last season, if I have to be one of the captains I will be very proud," said Monreal.

"Being one of the captains of Arsenal is to feel proud, we're talking about one of the great clubs and I will accept it of course."
