Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has congratulated Croatia teammate Ivan Rakitic over his imminent move to Barcelona. The Sevilla playmaker is set to join Barca this week - indeed terms could be settled today.
"It is clear that if it were me, I would have liked him to be signing for Madrid, but in the end it could not be and he's gone to Barca," said Modric.
"I am delighted for him, he deserves it. Going to a big club like Barca, which has a global dimension, represents an important step in his career.
"Everyone has seen this season what he is able to do, he is a great player who is developing and I am convinced that his performances will be even better next season."
