Luka Modric has lauded the signing of Croatia team-mate Niko Kranjcar from Portsmouth and thinks he will settle into life at Tottenham immediately. Modric told Spurs' official website: "Niko knows everything about English football and he won't need long to settle, especially with myself and Charlie already here and of course he knows Jermain and Crouchy from Portsmouth.

"He speaks perfect English as well. He's a great player and a great person.

"I'm glad because it means I will play with him and Charlie (Corluka) in the same team. He's a fantastic player and he will help us.

"He's strong on the ball, has great vision and is a great passer of the ball. He's a dangerous player."
