MLS WRAP - Week 17: De Rosario downs NYRB, Donovan and Beckham score for LA Galaxy

Week 17 of the 2011 MLS season was completed on the weekend with another bunch of interesting results.

In New York on Saturday, Dwayne De Rosario returned to haunt his former club in just his second match for DC United with a 61st minute goal in the Washington outfit's 1-0 triumph over the Red Bulls.

The Canada international, who joined DC from New York on June 27, received a pass from Josh Wolff on the edge of the area before hammering home on his left foot to stretch United's unbeaten run to four matches.

In Los Angeles, Galaxy star duo Landon Donovan and David Beckham did the damage in their 2-1 win over Chicago Fire, who finished the match with ten men.

Beckham's 58th minute free-kick from the right flank found Donovan at the back post and the USA star climbed above his marker to head home for his ninth of the season.

The Fire hit back through a Cristian Nazarit header just four minutes later before Beckham swung his corner from the left side into the back of the net to give his side the win.

Elsewhere in MLS, Chivas USA's Nick LaBrocca scored for the third match in a row but his side were denied victory when Sporting Kansas City scored late through Omar Bravo to force a 1-1 draw.

Houston Dynamo heaped more pressure on Toronto FC with a 2-0 home result, reigning champions Colorado Rapids beat Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1, Real Salt Lake were too good for FC Dallas winning 2-0 in Utah, Fredy Montero scored twice as Seattle Sounders overcame ten man Portland Timbers to win 3-2 as San Jose Earthquakes and Philadelphia Union played out a scoreless draw.
