Thierry Henry admits the changes he saw during his time in Major League Soccer were all extremely positive for the game in North America.
The legendary French striker recently announced his retirement from professional football after a successful four-and-a-half-year spell in MLS with New York Red Bulls.
Former Arsenal and Barcelona star Henry, who left what is likely to be a lasting legacy on both the Red Bulls and MLS, said in an interview with RedBull.com that the competition is in a stronger position now than what it was when he first arrived in July 2010 particularly when assessing the ever-increasing role of the fans.
"It has changed a lot. The game has changed. The league has changed," said Henry.
"Now teams have their own stadiums. You see the fans wearing the jerseys of their teams. Before when I first arrived you could see some guys going to the game watching the Chicago Fire against us, and you see the guy with a Madrid shirt or a Barca shirt. And you're like, 'OK, cool, you like soccer, but can you wear the jersey of your team?'
"But more and more now you see in the stadiums that the guys are actually wearing the jersey of their team. And proudly."
