Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard says making the move to Los Angeles will allow him to breathe a little.

The former England international is preparing for his final two matches with his beloved Liverpool before he embarks on a journey to the USA where he will join MLS club LA Galaxy in July.

Ahead of one of the most talked about transfer in recent history, Gerrard insists it is a great opportunity for him to really spend time with wife Alex and their three daughters Lilly-Ella, Lexie and Lourdes.

"It lets you give a little back to your family," he said of the impending move.

"You step out of the city (of Liverpool), you breathe for a bit, you enjoy your kids and you go to a place where you are going to enjoy it.

"I think the league's going to be good, I can still start games and I can still enjoy it."
