Major League Soccer's 2010 season looks set to be delayed as the Players Union's chances of staging a lockout looks more and more likely.
In what could be a disastrous move for the USA national team leading into the World Cup, the MLS Players Union have rated a work stoppage as 'inevitable' is there is not an agreement before Thursday's extended deadline of the new collective bargaining agreement.
Players are preparing to strike so their salary demands are met by the league and Kansas City Wizards captain Jimmy Conrad was of firm belief that this strike would occur.
"We feel like we've made a huge effort to be reasonable, to propose things that are within the confines of the single-entity structure," Conrad told ESPN. "At this point they're not even humoring us with something tangible. If things stay where they are, then it's inevitable that a work stoppage is going to happen."
The player lockout could force LA Galaxy stars Landon Donovan and David Beckham to extend their stays in Europe with Everton and AC Milan respectively and could be a potential disaster for Bob Bradley's national team as many MLS-based players make up his squad.
