MLS chiefs scramble to open talks with QPR flop Ferdinand

MLS chiefs are keen to speak with QPR veteran Rio Ferdinand.

The People says MLS officials hope to convince him to become the next England legend to make a move across the Atlantic.

David Beckham, Jermain Defoe and Frank Lampard have all opted to switch to the USA or Canada towards the end of their careers.

Franchises have been cautious over paying big bucks for defensive players in the past, but the league realises Ferdinand has huge marketing potential on top of his talent.

American chiefs have sounded him out before - and it is understood an offer from US soccer bosses will be on the table when he leaves QPR.
