MLS Commissioner Don Garber hopes a second New York franchise will be finished by mid-2011.
New York Cosmos are almost certain to return to North America's top flight and Garber says he wants a new team sorted sooner rather than later.
"They have done a great job," Garber told the Fox Soccer Channel during the telecast of the LA Galaxy versus FC Dallas match last week.
"They're a bunch of guys that understand the sport and really connected with the legacy and heritage of that brand."
Garber also said that about six to eight months would be the likely timeframe for the new franchise to come to fruition.
