MLS attracting interest from European players - Seattle's Ljungberg

Seattle Sounders star Freddie Ljungberg believes European players are eyeing careers in MLS.

The Swedish midfielder says there is plenty of interest in the game in America, especially after the successful crossovers of David Beckham, Kasey Keller Brian McBride and himself.

"I think if you're referring to the recruitment, a lot of players in England are discussing about the MLS and they're interested," Ljungberg said.

"They want to make the league here better because we see the potential in America -- the population is so big and there are so many young players that play soccer."

This Saturday's match between Seattle and English club Chelsea will be a good opportunity for some more players to experience what the game is like in the US, as pointed out by Sounders goalkeeper Keller.

"I think what's nice is for us to be able to put on a big show and showcase one of the MLS teams, not playing Celtic, not playing Manchester United, but playing an MLS team, getting a huge crowd and hopefully we can give them a good game," Keller said.

"I think they'll be a little surprised on what our support is especially if we perform at the level that I know we're capable of doing."
