Portland Timbers head coach Caleb Porter is happy to have a mini-break following the opening three matches of the season.
The Timbers have produced two draws and one loss so far in the 2013 MLS campaign but will not play again until the March 30 trip to Colorado Rapids.
While most coaches would be looking for the next game to quickly come around, Porter feels it is a great opportunity to get back to training and work on some of the shortcomings he has spied in his Timbers outfit thus far.
"It's a good time, because we get two weeks to really grow in training," Porter told The Oregonian in the wake of the 1-1 draw with Cascadia rivals Seattle Sounders on the weekend.
"We've had three games to measure ourselves and see some patterns and trends. Now we'll go back to the training ground.
"We made a few tweaks to deal with Seattle. I thought we were better defensively because of it."
Portland currently sit seventh on the Western Conference table with two points from their three fixtures which have included an opening weekend 3-3 draw with New York Red Bull and a 2-1 loss to league leaders Monreal Impact.
