James Milner was pleased with Manchester City's grinding win at Newcastle United.
Milner says winning ugly is all part of the process if a team wants to be crowned Premier League champions.
"That felt like a massive result because they're the type of really tough tests you have to win if you have any hopes of topping the table," said the England international.
"Everyone knows we can play good, attractive football because we have scored so many goals this season.
"But these are the sort of games where you have to dig in and grind out a result.
"We managed to do that, but only just."
