Gold Coast United head coach Miron Bleiberg has confirmed that Scottish midfielder Charlie Miller has left the club.
The 34-year old former Rangers and Dundee United star made 12 appearances with United last season after crossing from Brisbane Roar and was hoping to be included in the squad for next season but Bleiberg said he had returned to Scotland and it is not likely he will return.
"Charlie has already left for Scotland, he was a case of the salary cap," said Bleiberg.
Another former Brisbane Roar player who has been linked with the Gold Coast is former skipper Craig Moore but Bleiberg said it was an unlikely scenario that the Australia international would join following the World Cup.
"I don't want to insult him, the money we have, we can afford a junior player or players that are not in his category," he added.
