Chelsea hero Mikel John Obi has addressed Trabzonspor fans after quitting this week.

The Nigerian midfielder had his contract terminated by mutual consent after criticising the Turkish for continuing the competition amid Europe's coronavirus outbreak.

Obi took to Instagram to explain his actions:

"I want to thank all the fans for their support. I also want to say thank you to all my teammates, the staff and the medical team for having achieved this season. Wish you all the luck of winning the league.

"It was one of the toughest decisions I have made, but under the circumstances we have to take care of each other and our families, spend time with them and protect them."
