Sinisa Mihajlovic will formally announce his departure from Sampdoria today.
Samp competed the season with a 2-2 draw against Parma on Sunday.
"I took Sampdoria a year and a half ago, they were in penultimate place. We ensured safety early, this season were always in the top places and finished seventh," Mihajlovic told Sky Sport Italia.
"That means a huge step forward from last term. Of course we are disappointed not to get into Europe via sixth place, but if Genoa don't get in then it's right Sampdoria are next up.
"The fans pay their ticket and can express their opinion however they want. I have no regrets, I just want to point out all that we've done in 18 months. I would hate for the leaps forward to be forgotten just because we finished seventh and not sixth."
Of his future, the coach added: "There will be an announcement tomorrow. You can read it on the Samp website."
