Middlesbrough will learn on Wednesday if they have won the race for Heerenveen striker Afonso Alves.
The Sunday Mirror says a Dutch tribunal will decide if the Brazil striker's proposed £14million move from Heerenveen to AZ Alkmaar is legally binding.
Alkmaar are adamant they will eventually get their man, but Alves's agent Alberton Tiburcio insisted: "If there was no registration completed with AZ we're free to do what we want. The player will choose the club he wants to join. Alves is not going to AZ Alkmaar."
