Middlesbrough thumped at Tottenham

Carling Cup losers Tottenham overcame their weekend disappointment with a 4-0 win over Middlesbrough at White Hart Lane. A brace from Aaron Lennon, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Robbie Keane with his first goal since returning to Spurs did the damage against relegation threatened Middlesbrough.

The hosts were three to the good by half time as Middlesbrough's back four were opened up at will.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp heaped praise on Aaron Lennon:

"He is in fantastic form, and you felt something would happen every time he got the ball.

"The little fella is flying at the moment. He's learning the game - he's only a kid. He's got all the equipment."

A despondent Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate, said, "We gave horrendous goals away. We are only able to compete if we are bang at it and we weren't today.

"Spurs are a class act and when you allow them to play, they can tear you apart. We knew it would be hard but we let ourselves down."
