Middlesbrough look set to add to their midfield ranks in the summer with a swoop for Canada international Daniel Imhof.

The 30-year-old currently plays for Bundesliga side Bochum but his contract with the club runs out at the end of the season, making him a free agent.

Gareth Southgate looks set for a battle to secure Imhof's signature however, as Celtic have also sent scouts to observe him in action and are expected to offer the Swiss-born player a deal.

Imhof has 32 caps for The Canucks and previously played in the Swiss league for FC Wil and St Gallen.
