Middlesbrough signing Butterfield hits out at Norwich

Middlesbrough signing Jacob Butterfield has hit out at the way he was treated at Norwich City.

The midfielder left the Canaries last month for Boro.

"It's nice to feel wanted and feel part of it," admitted Butterfield, who signed his contract with Boro before he had a chance to visit the club.

"I felt excluded down in Norwich after the first few months, but now I want to be part of something good up here and I'm thankful in the manager for showing faith in me and now I have to repay him for that.

"It was difficult at Norwich. I was coming back from injury and they sent out on loan and I was all over the place. I said I'd go back and give it a good go in pre-season and see where I was at, but I still wasn't going to be part of the manager's plans.

"You go there thinking you've worked so hard to and you think you're going to move onto the next level of your career, but for me it was more like a backward step."
