Middlesbrough's McDonald on target as Genclerbirligi's Jedinak scores again

Scott McDonald scored for the second game in a row as Middlesbrough were again held to a draw against Barnsley on the weekend. The Australian international followed up his goal in the 3-3 draw with Ipswich Town last week by heading a late equaliser as 'Boro salvaged a point against the visiting Tykes.

The goal was McDonald's ninth of the season but could not push the Teessiders any higher than 18th on the English Championship table. They next meet Burnley at Turf Moor on Tuesday night before taking Richard Garcia's Hull City at KC Stadium next weekend.

Other Aussies in goalscoring action on the weekend included Garcia, who netted in the ninth minute of the Tigers' 3-1 win over Doncaster Rovers. He later had to be taken from the pitch with what looked like a serious knee injury but has since been cleared of any damage.

In Turkey on Friday, Mile Jedinak scored with a beautiful free-kick for Genclerbirligi. It was his third Super Lig match in a row with a goal as they drew 2-2 at Besiktas. The Socceroos midfielder also netted in the 4-1 in over Kayserispor last week and the 3-0 away victory at Manisaspor seven days earlier.

In Holland, Brett Holman netted the second of AZ Alkmaar's three goals as they defeated ADO Den Haag 3-1 in the Dutch Eredivisie. He now has three goals for the season as Alkmaar fourth on the table.

Over in China, Dino Djulbic opened his account for Shaanxi Chanba as they defeated Henan Jianye 3-2 at home in the Super League. The former Gold Coast United man has now played three matches for his new club as they sit second on the table with a near-perfect record of three wins from three but have conceded twice to sit behind Adam Griffth's Hangzhou Lucheng on goal difference.
