Middlesbrough have received international clearance for Uruguayan midfielder Gaston Ramirez and American Brad Guzan to play in the United Kingdom.

The pair have featured in pre-season but only abroad due to a delay in their paperwork.

A club statement read: "The relevant permissions have now been secured for summer signings Brad Guzan and Gaston Ramirez to play in the UK.

"The duo have only featured on foreign soil for Boro this summer, but the club has now received the green light for the pairing."
