Middlesbrough have made a £12 million offer for Heerenveen striker Afonso Alves.
The Sun says the Teessiders have met the Brazilian hitman's get-out clause at the Dutch club but now it is a case of convincing the striker to come to the Riverside.
A source close to Alves said: "Middlesbrough have made an offer and the player and Heerenveen are studying it.
"It's no secret Afonso wants to play in the Premier League."
