Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate is adamant winger Adam Johnson will not leave Teesside this summer.

"Despite what has appeared in some papers we have not had a single approach from any club about Adam Johnson," he said emphatically. "We have had absolutely no contact about Adam from either Rangers or QPR, nor do we expect to have any.

"As I have made it clear, he remains a big part in my plans for the club. Adam is a fantastic talent and I do not want to see him leave. He could be very, very special and I would not want to see him play for another club."
