Middlesbrough boss Karanka happy strengthening Chelsea ties

Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka admits they're strengthening their ties with Chelsea.

Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo, who played for Nigeria at the World Cup, has returned for a second loan spell on Teesside and Karanka is also chasing Stamford Bridge starlets Patrick Bamford and George Saville.

"It is not just because Jose (Mourinho) and I are friends," he said.

"Our relationship with Chelsea is good because it is healthy for all parties.

"Bringing in Kenneth is a deal that makes everybody happy because it works for all of us.

"Chelsea believe we are a good club to send players on loan to develop and grow because we have the same philosophy as Jose."
