Miami owner eager to establish MLS franchise with Beckham

Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross and his RSE Ventures group are determined to force their way into Major League Soccer.

Miami is being touted as one of the next three franchises to enter North America's top flight, along with Orlando and Atlanta, but have yet to establish stadium plans which would see the other two cities ahead in the queue.

A MLS source told the Miami Herald that there is plenty of buzz around the city regarding the expansion attempt especially seeing as former LA Galaxy star David Beckham could also be involved.

"There is a lot of passion for soccer in Miami, and a lot of wealthy people are kicking the tires about MLS, and trying to partner with Beckham, but Miami's stadium plan is not as advanced yet as those in Atlanta and Orlando," the MLS source said. "Of course, things can change very quickly in these situations."

Nevertheless, Dolphins chief Ross stated last week at the Bloomberg Sports Business Summit in New York for the first time in public that he wants to bring a MLS team to Miami which will surely help the situation grow legs.
