Meulensteen was sidelined by Fulham during January market work

Sacked Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen was fast losing control during the January market.

The Daily Mail says the axed boss had minimal involvement in the decision to sign Kostas Mitroglou from Olympiakos for a club record £12million fee.

Likewise, the Dutchman was not completely convinced by the club's decision to sell central-defender Philippe Senderos to Valencia on transfer deadline day.

Nevertheless, both transfers were sanctioned; providing clear indications that Meulensteen's grasp on the job was slowly slipping.
