Former Germany international Christoph Metzelder says Borussia Dortmund midfielder Marco Reus should join Real Madrid.

Reus is being linked with Real and Barcelona.

But Metzelder says: "If Reus had to choose between Real Madrid or Barcelona, I think Real would be the easier choice.

"Real Madrid is a more global club than Barcelona. Barcelona means Catalonia. They're more regional and insular and prefer to focus on their own youth products."

He added: "The truth is that there is not much room in Madrid's attack, they have many options. But if there is a club that can accommodate a player like Reus, it is Madrid."

Metzelder, 34, is currently playing amateur football with TuS Haltern.
