Representatives for Barcelona star Lionel Messi made contact with Real Madrid in the summer, it has been reveled.El Confidencial says with Cristiano Ronaldo baulking at signing his new contract and Tottenham refusing to back down over their price for Gareth Bale, Real were contacted by intermediaries offering them Messi.
The agents tabled a drawn up contract worth €20 million-a-year and informed Real that Barca would be willing to sell for €150 million.
The approach did get as far as president Florentino Perez, who spoke with the agents, but decided against exploring the proposal further.
