Lionel Messi was delighted with his brace for Barcelona in their 3-1 victory at Deportivo La Coruna.

The Argentina international struck two goals against a Deportivo which had won eight of their past 12 league matches.

"Winning the league is not easy, as we know, we're always looking for ways to win as everything was difficult," said Messi.

"We have to win both our remaining games before the Club World Cup. We must also win our Champions League match."

On his Ballon d'Or triumph, Messi added: "I'm very pleased."
