Mendy legal team announces action against Man City

Former Manchester City star Benjamin Mendy's lawyer has confirmed he will be suing his old club.

Mendy, who was declared not guilty on six counts of rape in a courtroom this year, is now rebuilding his career.

The defender, who is now 29, was suspended by City in August 2021 and did not receive any of his wages since September 2021.

Mendy earned roughly £100,000-a-week on the deal he signed when he arrived at City in 2017.

Sports lawyer Nick De Marco KC released this statement: "Nick De Marco KC is acting for the former Manchester City player Benjamin Mendy in a multi-million-pound claim for unauthorised deductions from wages.

"Manchester City FC failed to pay Mr Mendy any wages at all from September 2021, following Mr Mendy being charged with various offences, all of which he was subsequently acquitted of, until the end of his contract in June 2023.

“The claim will come before an employment tribunal."
