Melbourne Victory thrilled to clinch ex-PAOK, Celta Vigo defender Contreras

Melbourne Victory on the weekend announced the signing of experienced Chilean defender Pablo Contreras.

The 35-year old former Monaco, Celta Vigo and PAOK centre-half joined the Victory as their international marquee for the 2013/14 A-League season which has filled head coach Ange Postecoglou with great joy.

"We are thrilled to welcome Pablo to Melbourne Victory and there's great excitement around what he can bring to the club," Postecoglou said.

"Pablo is a high quality central defender who will be an important part of our journey towards an A-LeagueChampionship, and, hopefully, our upcoming Asian Champions League campaign."

During his career, Contreras has played in his homeland for Colo-Colo while also spending time with Sporting Braga, Sporting Lisbon, Osasuna and Olympiakos, He has represented Chile on 67 occasions.
