Melbourne Victory are sweating on the fitness of three of its key members just as things looked like they were getting back on track. Star striker Archie Thompson, midfield maestro Carlos Hernandez and left-back Matthew Kemp all sustained injuries in Saturday's 2-0 win over Perth Glory and will be monitored over the course of the week.
Thompson and Kemp will have scans tomorrow on their respective hamstring and groin problems whilst Hernandez's sprained ankle will be assessed ahead of Monday's clash with Newcastle Jets at AAMI Park.
The Victory had just recovered from a spate of injuries but their line-up looks to be depleted at least for the Jets game, taking into account Grant Brebner's suspension (for yellow card accumulation). Billy Celeski will take Brebner's place for the Jets clash but Thompson, Kemp and quite possible Hernandez will all need to be substituted when the Jets come to town.
