Melbourne Victory releases Johnny Warren medallist Flores

Melbourne Victory has announced that they have released Marcos Flores.

The Argentine playmaker joined the Victory from Chinese Super League club Henan Jianye in July last year but is now without a club after parting ways with the two-time A-League champions.

A Victory statement read: "Melbourne Victory can confirm that midfielder Marcos Flores has been released from the club with immediate effect.

"Flores joined Victory at the start of the 2012/13 season, making 24 appearances and scoring four goals.

"During his stint with the club, Flores also claimed Hyundai A-League 'Goal of the Year' award for his skilful strike against Wellington Phoenix at Etihad Stadium.

"The club wishes Marcos well in his future endeavours."

Flores had a standout season back in 2011/12 with Adelaide United when he won the Johnny Warren Medal, the A-League Foreign Player of the Year and the Reds' Player of the Year awards.
