Melbourne Victory positive about Kewell injury

Melbourne Victory are remaining positive about the injury sustained by Harry Kewell whilst on international duty last week.

The 33-year old was forced off the pitch early in the second half of the 1-0 World Cup qualifying loss to Oman in Muscat on Friday and has since returned to Melbourne to undergo treatment.

Kewell will obviously miss today's clash with Thailand in Bangkok but the Victory state that he could be back to take on the Perth Glory at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

"Melbourne Victory Football Club wishes to advise that Harry Kewell is receiving ongoing treatment for the hamstring tightness he sustained during the Qantas Socceroos' World Cup qualifier against Oman late last week," read a statement from the club.

"Harry arrived back in Melbourne on Sunday to receive individual treatment from Melbourne Victory medical staff and will be given every chance to prove his fitness ahead of Sunday's clash with Perth Glory at Etihad Stadium."
