John van 't Schip feels Melbourne Heart's chances of making the finals were strengthened after they defeated North Queensland Fury 2-0 yesterday.
The Heart vitally needed a win to push further away from seventh-placed Wellington Phoenix and they achieved their goal, outplaying the Fury at AAMI Park.
van 't Schip was delighted with how his side went about their business to notch up their third win on the trot.
"We will certainly be there with a big chance for the finals. Newcastle, Wellington and Melbourne Victory though have games in hand, which made today's result important," he said.
"Our discipline was good and we did not give a lot away, then after the first goal by John (Aloisi), we had a lot more room to play."
And the Dutch tactician was especially pleased that the win was achieved with three key players sitting on the bench until the second half.
"With the bench we have, the depth in our squad is strong, and when you bring players like Gerald Sibon, Alex Terra and Michael Beauchamp, it helps," he added.
