Melbourne City star Damien Duff is expected to undergo surgery and miss the rest of the A-League season. City said on Wednesday that the 35 year old Republic of Ireland international will undergo further scans on a ruptured calf tendon and ankle ligament damage but the early prognosis is that he may require surgery resulting in a lengthy layoff.
"We are of course disappointed to learn the seriousness of Damien's injuries and I know his absence will be a big loss to the team," said City coach John van't Schip. "Damien has brought a lot to the club this season both on and off the pitch."
