Melbourne boss Merrick wants packed house for Grand Final

Melbourne Victory coach Ernie Merrick is hoping the Telstra Dome is packed out on Saturday night. So far, about half the tickets have been sold and the Football Federation of Australia wants over 50,000 people attending the 2008/09 A-League Grand Final between Melbourne Victory and Adelaide United.

Merrick said a huge Melbourne crowd would help his side immensely.

"The city of Melbourne (is) fantastic and nowhere deserves a grand final more than here," Merrick told the Herald Sun.

"We hope to get a huge crowd. It would be fantastic to have a sea of blue shirts in the stands and we want to present a really intimidating home grand final."

If the match happens to sell 50,000 tickets, it will be the third time in A-League history it has occurred.
