Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager Terry Butcher insists Billy McKay will not leave the club in January.
The 24-year old Northern Irish attacker, who has netted 12 league goals for a total of 16 this season, is being linked with a couple of English football league sides but Butcher is confident he will remain with Caley.
"There is no way we want to lose Billy. That hasn't even entered my thoughts," he said.
"I gave Billy a two-year deal in the summer and a few people thought I had lost my senses.
"But it's turned out to be a very good piece of business for the club.
"We've worked so hard to get into the position we are in now. Why would I disrupt that by allowing players to move on?
"If anything, we are looking to extend contracts and to add players to the fantastic group we have.
"Hopefully, we'll have positive news on that come the end of the week."
