Mark McGhee has backed goalkeeper Graeme Smith for a call-up to the Scotland squad, says the Daily Star. Smith's man-of-the-match performance in Nancy on Thursday kept Motherwell's UEFA Cup hopes alive and McGhee believes it will not be long before the 25-year-old forces his way into the national set-up.
"Graeme was terrific against Nancy. It wasn't just his saves, but he did the basics well and really took a command of his area," said McGhee.
"If he continues to play like that then he has got to come into George Burley's thoughts.
"He has got to cut out the odd mistake and keep a good level of consistency, but he has definitely shown he is good enough."
