Scott McDonald helped fire Middlesbrough to a vital win in the English Championship overnight.

The former Celtic star marked another international call-up with a 23rd minute goal to make it 2-0 for Boro away at Scunthorpe United.

McDonald added to Kris Boyd's 6th minute opener by curling in a 20-yard shot after Boyd has laid it off for him.

The win was the Teessiders first away win of the season and their fifth overall as they moved three points clear of the relegation zone.
