McDonald at the double for Celtic

A Scott McDonald brace has helped Celtic overcome a dogged Aberdeen 3-1 in SPL action today. Aberdeen had shocked the visitors by taking the lead in the 22nd minute thanks to a well placed header from Christopher Maguire.

Gary Caldwell levelled the scores in the 44th minute with a header which appeared to take a deflection from an Aberdeen defender before beating Jamie Langfield in the Aberdeen goal.

The second half saw Celtic enjoy a majority of the possession which included several excellent scoring opportunities.

Scott McDonald had toiled hard throughout the match without luck but that changed in the 72nd minute when he turned in a great pass from Andreas Hinkel with a sweetly timed first time right foot shot.

McDonald completed the scoring in injury time with a superb finish, outpacing the Aberdeen defence to latch onto a high Nakamura through ball and slot home his 50th goal for Celtic in his 95th appearance.

The Celtic victory heaps the pressure back onto 2nd placed Rangers, who are now four points behind going into Sunday's clash against Hearts.
